Combining charm and comfort, the new accommodation unit is the outcome of the restoration of an old family house, located in the Douro valley, with a privileged location in the oldest demarcated wine region in the world. The project is born inside the São Luiz Estate, one of the most emblematic estates in the Douro. It is a showcase of some of the best wines produced from what is acclaimed as the oldest Port wine house – Kopke, established in 1638, even before the official demarcation of this region. Next to the white painted walls, a trade mark of the Quinta, and which support the vines as much as fascinating stories and the wisdom of several generations, The Vine House offers its guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of an Estate that dedicates its day to day to the creation of such distinct products as Port wines and DOC Douro wines In addition to experiencing the several activities offered by S. Luiz, guests of The Vine House can enjoy exclusive moments of relaxation, in communion with nature, surrounded by a breathtaking landscape, recognized by the Unesco as a World Heritage Site. With an enviable location , all the extraordinary surroundings where the House is located have in their genesis the cultural landscape of the region and the winemaking tradition of the Quinta, portrayed in the materials, textures, colors and the sophistication of every detail. The various rooms reflect a cheerful and carefree vision, where comfort and timelessness are present, through traditional architecture and the selection of handcraft elements, which tell the story of a Port Wine House almost 400 years old. The Vine House consists of eleven rooms, all with views over the Douro River, which transforms them into true cabins for a setting of unparalleled beauty. Six of these rooms have an exclusive balcony and at their feet the Vinha Rumilã, the oldest vineyard of Quinta de S. Luiz that comes from a small centenary parcel.
